Over the past week or so I've been blessed to be out on several streams here on the Cumberland Plateau. On Friday, I had a great adventure exploring a stream I've driven past numerous times on the way to "better" fishing. It turns out the little creek is one of those hidden gems. It was full of little Coosa bass (emphasis on the little) and was a lot like fishing the little brook trout streams in the Smokies. Here are a few pictures from that adventure.
Yesterday I was able to hit a smallmouth stream that I've started exploring. The water was very low but the fish were willing. Best of all, they were hitting topwater bugs!!! Here are a couple of shots of the fish and stream.
One of the best moments from the smallmouth stream was watching one of the fish come up and stare down my foam bug before hammering it. Some of the fish wanted it dead still while others wanted it twitched across the surface. Some blew up on the fly while others sipped it off the surface. You just never know with the smallies!
So, the main lesson to be learned here is to quit passing up those little streams you always wonder about. You might find something pretty nice!
