    Default Elk River question...

Just noticed that Tims Ford dam is sluicing. How is this affecting the trout fishery there? i know in the past it has raised water temps somewhat. I was thinking about doing a float trip soon, but didn"t want to waste the time if temps are too high there. Thanks in advance for anything someone may be willing to share.

I've only been down there once this year, early in the summer. At that time, it appeared to me the river needed a good flush. Lot of silt and algae at that time.

Scroll down in this sub forum under the title Job well done, for a trip report and a pic of a nice bow caught on the Elk.

Yep, no need to bother fishing the Elk... the water is too warm. I suggest you focus on the Caney Fork instead...

All kidding aside, temps seem to be fine although water levels are definitely down a bit. I didn't happen to measure but I heard it was a little chilly if you were brave enough to be wet wading... I would however still focus on deep, fishy looking water, if you go...

Tims Flies & Lies has run shuttles, not sure if they still do, give them a call.

You can't fish the Caney unless your cast is accurate enough to get between all the out of control rental boat's
