Default Little River in Townsend Question

I know (at least I think) that the Little River within the Townsend city limits is stocked with trout. Has anyone caught trout there on flies? A few years back I spent several hours fishing the Little River behind the Catholic Church. There were times that when the sun was just right , I could see literally hundreds of trout. But, I threw every fly and nymph I had at them and nothing. Is this strictly a bait area or will the trout take flies? If so, which flies are used?

Thanks elkhair. We are moving to the Townsend area in September. I will fly fish for the wild trout in the Park and catch and release, and I might just use my ultra light spinning rig in town and some trout bait (maybe Berkley Power Bait) and catch some hatchery trout for the frying pan.

Just spent a weekend in Townsend. Seems like a nice place to live. Wouldn't mind moving there myself.

You won't be hurting a thing practicing catch and keep in the park.

But you might be there a few days before you catch anything big enough to keep! 😎

The stocked hatchery trout in town should be big enough.

There's some big trout in Townsend, some 3-4 lbs and have heard tale of bigger ones
