Duggie, the upper sections of Abrams Creek are notorious for tough wading because of the silt that comes from the Cove. The lower sections of the creek are not quiet as bad, but you still need to use felt with studs for the best and safest wading. There isn't nearly as much gradient to the lower part of the creek, but you need to be careful in the early part of the season when the water flow is still kindof full. It can take your feet right out from under you. If you hit the creek in April, get those weighted nymphs down deep and you'll bring back some great memories. Good fishing to you.
