    Default Fishing retreat for male cancer survivors

    I am researching some good ideas for a fishing trip the first of October for male cancer survivors in the Maryville area. Since this is the first retreat of this kind in this area I am open to suggestions. Any ideas of the best way to handle this event? I am not sure about fly fishing for this first event because of the length of time you have to stand in the water. Some of the survivor may not be strong enough yet. Help!!

    I'm afraid i'm not much of help, but I do know this. In October we usually have dry weather and low water levels. Lower Little River will be easier to wade than in the spring but the fishing will be slow until later in the year when water cools down. I think that for trout below Metcalf Bottoms it will be marginal at best. This leaves higher elevations which really takes a toll on you. I guess it all depends on how fit the participants are considering the stage of recovery they are in.
