    lauxier!

Tremont trailhead is at about 1950 ft.

Looks like you are closest, I was at 3250ft. I guess that is about as high as they get. It is really interesting to read reports from when the Browns were only as high as 1000ft or so. It won't be long before they are all the way up. The only thing that will stop them are natural barriers I guess?

Yeah, I believe they are climbing the hills. I am convinced after my fishing trip last week that they are way up high nowadays. I guess it makes interesting fishing on creeks were a 7 inch fish is a lunker. The brown I caught came out of a whole no bigger than a washtub and It was 8 inches. It fought like **** due to the short line and the limited room to fight in.

hey Hans.....while we are in the area next week, we plan on hiking to Charlies Bunyon for some picture ops, what would be a few spots on the way back down to stop and throw a fly (within a reasonable distance after the Charlies Bunyon hike)....

    thanks,

    tennswede,
My brother and I caught some small browns near the highest campsite on Deep Creek, I think it's called the Poke Patch site or something like that. I'm not sure of the elevation, and I don't have my guide book with me right now to check. By the way, that's a tough hike down to that site from Newfound Gap Rd and back up again. My knee still hasn't recovered.

I guess West Prong of Little Pigeon would be the closest if you go out of the park on the TN side. If you go to NC when you leave the park the closest would be Beech Flats Prong and Oconaluftee.

Well. If you are referring to campsite 53 we are talking right at 3000ft elevation. I guess I am still in the lead, surely someone out there have caught one at 3500ft?
    Keep on fishing.

Close but no cigar, eh? I guess that victory cigar I just smoked was a little premature. Lol. I just found it in my hiking guide. We might have caught one of those fish at around 3250 since we fished upstream from the site, but it's unlikely. Oh well, I would have smoked the cigar anyway. Take care,

We are officially tied then. If you fished let's say half a mile to one mile up you were close enough to be at 3250ft. I guess we have to share the cigar , unless someone lurking out there can beat us.

    To all on this thread!

Well, I realize now that I didn't specify geographic location. I would be easily beaten by someone fishing outside of our region. So lets say inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for now. That's the only way I have a chance at winning
