    Default Elk Riv er

Has anyone fished the Elk lately? I have not been able to get down there for awhile and just wanted to see if anyone could give me the low down.

BHPT-16-20 midges-18-22(olive or gray) & buggers in olive or brown have been producing fish.

they elk fished good for me today. I fished trout candy nymphs all day long and caught fish all day. That is my 'go to' fly for the elk river. You should stop at the fly shop in lynchburg and pick up a few on the way. I wouldn't fish the elk without them.

Trout candy is a nymph that Time Page designed. It is black and gold with a bead head. Tim owns the fly shop in downtown lynchburg called "Tim's flies and lies". He also guides on the elk and duck rivers.

Tim is a real good guy and I always try to stop in and see him when I go down that way. I have fished the trout candy and they do work very well. Drop a #12 under a #8 with a strike indicator. Or a 12 under a #8 san juan worm.
