    Bullwinkle,

I don't know what is going on at the Cranberry this time of year, but I was there last fall (mid-October) and it was absolutely beautiful. It is a pretty high-elevation river so I would expect it to be pretty cold with not a lot of hatches going on anymore.

We parked at the Cranberry Glades lot (off 39, about 5 miles from Richwood) and rode bikes down the old railroad grade which follows the river for about 3-4 miles to the junction of the North and South Forks. This is the point where they begin liming the river and the fishing improves dramatically.

There is a pool just downstream of the junction of the two forks behind one of the camping shelters that had a lot of trout rising. If you head down that way, look at that spot.

I you can get some info from Four Seasons Outfitters in Richwood. They sell some flies and rent bikes if you need one.

Hopefully there is enough water to catch some fish. Send a report and some pics if you go. It is one of my favorite rivers.

    Dave

what I kind of figured, even if the fishing sucked the scenery would be worth the trip.

seems kind of expensive for a Sat afternoon and Sun morning of fishing..

"If you plan to fish for two days for trout in the national forest area you will need the CS/LE $12.00, OO $15.00 and the I $2.00 plus two LL stamps at $3.00 each"
