I made an impromptu trip up to the West Prong of the Little Pigeon on Friday afternoon. Got up there about 2:00 p.m. There is a gravel pull off on the left hand side of the road just past the loop above the Chimneys trailhead where there is easy stream access - put in there. Water is low as you would expect but fish were biting. Caught on both BHPT (spent much of my time just practicing nymph technique - still a struggle) and standard parachute adams. Just caught 3 in the little time I was up there but all were in the 8-10 inch range and all rainbows. While water is low, there are still some nice pools and runs on the WP. The biggest challenge was the wind coming up the river and whipping my dry/nymph rig around.
Beautiful day for an "all my work done, let's go fishing" kind of afternoon.
