    Default Montana recomendations ???

My son is proudly serving his country as a member of the US Air Force.
The Air Force has graciously assigned him to Malstrom Air Force base in Northwest Montana.
You know what that means .... ROAD TRIP

Does anyone have any lodge, outfitter, or fishing recomendations for the northwest corner of Montana near the city of Great Falls.
I am planning a mid May trip.
    Thanks

Visit Montana's Fish & Wildlife & Parks site. You can click on the region you are planning to visit and then fishing sites and it will tell you most of the streams in the area. Here is the link:

here is a link for the far northwest part of the state.

"Unless one can enjoy himself fishing with the fly, even when his efforts are unrewarded, he loses much real pleasure. More than half the intense enjoyment of fly-fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the satisfaction felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured thereby, and the many, many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard and done." - Charles F. I was born and raised in Great Falls.

Best bet is going to be the Missouri river between Great Falls and Helena (about 40 miles outside of Great Falls). Best section to fish is between Holter Dam and Craig Montana. It's considered a blue ribbon tailwater and the fish are notorious for being HUGE.

Check out the latest edition of "This is Fly" online magazine. Page 53. http://www.thisisfly.com/

If you need a guide, check with The Trout Shop in Craig.

    Mountianeer,

If you are driving then you will come through lovely Billings and i may be able to meet ya and we may be able to take a look at the Big Horn before you go all the way to Gt Fall.

Griz alumni gives good advice and I will see what i can dig up form some of those folks I know over there.

Feel free to email me if we can set up a float.

It is good to see that your son is doing what he is doing.

I grew up down the street from one of theair force guys with wings on the shoulders. An acadamy guy from Butte America was there a few years ago. Before he retired and passed to the great beyond. A fine fine man and football player,

    Chris Milodragovich.
