Nice evening on the flat

I had a really good evening on the Flat yesterday. I managed to hook and land two fish, and I got to see over a dozen tailing fish. It was just a great day.


19.5 inches
This fish was on a flat with about 7 other fish, in about 6-8 inches of water. I cast to it, and hooked him, and when he hit it spooked the other fish. I waited for a good 15 minutes but never saw another fish in that area.


28 inch fish

This one was between me and another 5 tailing fish. I was moving towards two fish tailing together about 30-40 yards away when this one showed within casting distance. He put up a great fight.

John were you wading the whole time or did you have to have a boat to access the flat. those are good looking fish. My prsonal best red is 29" I got him on spinning tackle though.

On this particular flat I fish with a kayak. There are a series of flats connected by small creeks that you cannot cross without a kayak. I access the flat from the shore though. My personal best on a fly came last year, he was about a quarter inch over 33 inches.
