Tying Challenge: Week 4

Ok everyone! Lots of good flies so far but I would still like to see more participants. I know there are more fly tiers out there so jump in and share your stuff! This week we are going to do Blue-winged Olive patterns, dry or nymph or both. Let's see both mountain patterns and tailwater patterns if you use something different in each place...

Shawn, why do you like to bend the eye upwards? Just how the fly sits on the water? Great patterns by the way. Love that nymph pattern as it looks nice and easy but definitely still killer...

It helps to put the body down in the film once the hackle has settled in the water. Basically; keeps it from leaning right or left and accentuates the body line. It is amazing how many dry patterns actually rest sideways, upside down, etc.

I tie a BWO biot emerger very similar to yours. Fish on the SoHo go crazy for it. I may try to tiie one up tonight after I get the kids to bed.

Nice dry too!

I see Walter often on my way to work. Since I haven't the "Vise" yet, I asked if he would participate on the thread. Walter will be the last person to own a computer or cell phone so I asked if he would allow me to assist. He was excited and I will do my best to photograph and post.

Hook: TMC 2487 #18 - 22
Thread: 8/0 olive
Tail: Pheasant Tail Fibers
Abdomen: Olive Goose Biot
Thorax: peacock herl
collar: partridge
