Rainbows in the CNF
Made my 1st trip of the New Year today. Sorry, no pics. The camera migrated to my son's vest on our last trip together and I forgot to get it back from him.
Anyway, I went to one of my go-to creeks in the Cherokee Nat'l Forest to take advantage of all this unseasonably warm weather. It was raining on the drive over, but stopped about the time I started fishing and held off until I started home again. But even without the rain, the wind was a Royal B***h.
Regardless, I had a pretty good day. Caught 10, missed about another half-dozen. All rainbows, mostly around 6-7", with a couple of dinks for good measure. The most productive setup was a #14 Haystack with a #16 BHPT as a dropper with most of the fish taking the dry. Since they were mostly looking up, after the Haystack got waterlogged I switched to a #16 Parachute Adams and no dropper to catch the last 4. All in all, a nice way to start the year.
Fly fishing - it's cheaper than a bass boat!
