Default Ready for Spring in Southern Kentucky
Hello, Everybody! My husband introduced me to fly fishing several years ago. He started back in the 90s when he lived in Oregon. We live near London, KY and enjoy fishing in places like Townsend and Rock Creek in Stearns, KY when we can. We're closer to the Rockcastle River. I recently bought a tenkara rod and love its simplicity and portability. I hope to spend more time on the riverbanks now that our two boys are just big enough to keep from jumping in the water all the time! Are any of you folks from our neck of the woods in southern Kentucky? I look forward to getting acquainted!

Hello, Jessica, welcome aboard. I don't live in SE Kentucky, but I do get up to that side of the Big South Fork from time to time. Have you tried your Tenkara rig on any panfish yet? I've heard from folks on some of the warm-water forums that bluegills and other bream are a lot of fun on a Tenkara rod. Anyway, I just wanted to extend a friendly welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy your stay, make some new friends, and learn a few tips and tricks along the way.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! Yes, we have caught some bluegill out of my dad's pond on our tenkara rods. In my opinion, that's one of the best tasting fish there is!

I am west of you in Bowling Green Ky and spend most time going after bluegills with fly rod
Never seen it done with tenkara rods

Nice to meet you! Yes, bluegills are lots of fun to catch; you should try a tenkara rod sometime. I've been to Bowling Green a few times. Beautiful country.

Greetings Jessica!

I live farther north in southern Indiana. Bluegills on a fly rod, cane pole, spinning rod, what have you, are a bucket of fun, and I think they are as tasty a fish as comes. I bet that tenkara rod is a little more convenient too when they are really hitting hot and heavy.

Anyway, welcome to the forum! Lots of nice folks on here and a wealth of information when it comes to catching fish. Enjoy!
