So between all this recent hot then cold, then hot again weather here in middle TN, I managed to go hit the Elk River this past week and found some hungry fish. While they didn't come very easily, they were there and if you were patient enough, the bows and browns cooperated.
All in all, I found seven bows and two browns throughout the afternoon including a nice 16" brownie to start the year off right... My friend who either wasn't as lucky or just not as skilled, only managed two little bows. He likes to think that he kept the little guys away from my fly so I could catch those nice browns. Regardless, it was just a beautiful January afternoon to be on the river with a good fishing buddy...This guy slammed my clouser as it drifted under his log... ![]() Tight Lines, |

I'd say that's a great start to the year! Good work!

That's a fine fish out of the elk for sure.

A good fish no doubt... year after year quality bows and browns like this guy find their way to my net. However, just fyi but they do get a LOT bigger than 16" on that river and that's about all I wil say...
