We are coming down to LRO this week-end and will have one day to fish on Friday. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to fish in the park? We come down here several times a year but I have not tried it in January. Also what flies are best to use this time of year(prefer dries) but will go under if I need to. Thanks!!

well, We did get some heave rains earlier in the week so water levels might still give you some problems. I would try some smaller streams, maybe west prong of Little River or Jakes Creek.

I had some luck on a #16 soft hackle on Tuesday. The water levels were still high, but by the weekend they should be much more fishable.
Byron, thanks for all of your help with the 8wts and reels. Stretch |

You might want to try Abrams Creek. It tends to run a little warmer usually. It has been fishing fairly well this winter also. I'll second the soft hackle recommendation. I caught a few fish on soft hackles on Abrams a couple of weeks ago swinging them quartering downstream. You might get into some BWO's so those will be the dries you should have ready on any of the streams in the area. A small bwo parachute or sparkle dun should cover that. Be sure to check in with LRO. They will have the most current information on what is working. Good luck with the fishing and let us know how you do!
