I have fished Arkansas in the fall. I went out with a buddy to fish the White river but the generation schedules were not good for wading so we went to the Norfork tailwater and had a very good trip with several browns over 20" and lots of rainbows. He caught one very large Brook trout at 19". You may be able to fish the kids trophy section at the dam. There are some monster browns in that section. I would tie lots of olive beadhead woolybuggers and # 16 silver beadhead pheasant tails. I look forward to another trip out there maybe next year. Have fun!

Fall & spring are 2 great times to be there, sowbugs are always on the menu in olive, tan or grey, size 14-18.
As Troutman mentioned, don't forget the WB's & PT's.

Hey 14,

If you're 14 make sure you go to Dry Run Creek on the Norfork. The fish are always hungry and willing. * Also, if you get the chance, do some night fishing. It should be a great time for some huge browns.

All these fish were caught over there. The rainbows were caught on a pink San Juan on Dry Run, and the Brown was caught on a scuplin right behind our room at Gaston's. Both were released, but the Brown was measured, mounted, and is now in my son's room. *

Have a great time !!!!

nice pics jf! ive heard alot about dry run creek and we will definitely make a trip over there... or two... or three . that creek looks on the small side, my favorite. i was talking to a guy in bass pro bout a month ago and he tied into what his guide said would be the state record for a youth. i have one question, does dry run creek run into the norfork. thanks again.

14,

It does. If you are heading to the dam up the river, it comes in right below it on the left. You'll see a walking bridge that goes over it just past the boat launch. You would need to walk across the street and go in at the hatchery to get to the best fishing. You should check out the hatchery itself. Very interesting, and they've got some huge fish in there. *

Hey 14,

I would probably stick with San Juans undernearth. Either red or brown. On top, in September I would go with ants or a 16-20 caddis.

Good luck.
