Default Recommendations for late Sept trip?

Family vacation scheduled for 3rd week in Sept to Gatlinburg and wanted to get in a day or two fishing. Regularly fish north Ga, have fished a little in the park several years ago with limited success (summer, low water, too close to crowded areas, etc). Prefer medium sized streams and definitely not afraid to walk to get to better fishing. Any recommendations appreciated. Also, what flies usually turn on then?

West Prong of Little Pigeon, Roaring Fork, Greenbrier. Check the Fishing Report at that time and LRO will give you fly recommenations.

yea leconte creek or walker camp at alum cave trailhead would be a good choice. walker camp is a little smaller than medium sized but its got plenty of casting room.

Thanks guys. How 'bout Abrams then? Always heard alot about it but never got to fish it. Is the horseshoe worth the walk?

Yes the horshoe is worth it at times. I recommend it as a spring trip though. Try the smaller baby shoe right at the falls. These places are not for solo trips heed the warnings. Abrams trailside is not bad but sometimes water temp is an issue. I would concentrate on it in the Spring.
