![]() Finally had time to tie a few up. Last trip myself, my son, and a friend of his destroyed just about all of my hare's ear nymphs. So this actually worked out good. I needed to refill the box. I fish 2 or 3 variations but these 2 flies are the ones I fish about 90% of the time when the situation calls for a hare's ear. Hare's ear with a soft hackle collar. Hook: TMC 3671 Thead: Rust brown 8/0 Uni Tail: Brown partridge fibers Body: Natural Hare's mask Bead: To fit hook Soft Hackle collar: Brown Partridge ![]() Standard pattern. ![]() Hook: 5262 Thread: Black Tail: Hare's Mask guard hairs. Remove underfur before tying in. Wing Pads: Black Thin Skin. More and more I tie my wing pads with a dark material. When Mayflies are getting ready to hatch their wing pad darken. Body: Natural Hare's Mask( I like to use real hair from a Hare's mask rather than pre packaged dubbing. Cut the hair as close to the skin as you can from between the eye and down the nose. Mix the dubbing and guard hairs together) Thorax: Guard hairs and underfur mixed and picked out. Rib: Oval gold tinsel

David,
Here is a pattern I found on the WWW a few months back. I cannot remember the tyer or the website. It is an inverse pattern and quite different. I believe it is supposed to mimic an emerging sulphur. ![]()

Shawn,
That is a buggy looking fly. Do you happen to have a recipe for it? David

Thanks to everyone who participated this week!!! Lots of good looking bugs and some new ideas to try out. I'll post another fly here in a couple of minutes. Keep up the good work and those who have not participated yet, try to jump in and improve those tying skills!
