Tying Challenge Week 7

Hey all, David wanted me to tell everybody sorry for not getting a new challenge up this past week, but as we all know he has hands full right now. So, he asked that I post the challenge fly for this week. I contemplated this for a while and wanted to do a specific fly like your favorite parachute Adams or soft-hackle. But there was just something that kept pulling me back to the "big nasty" streamers that I know some people use on the tailwaters and when the freestone streams run high and stained. So, this week's challenge is to tie your favorite streamer pattern.

OK lets get this started so I can learn some new patterns.The first three are for the brownies and each of them has served me well.....the second three are for the smallies and you will see they are as good as it gets and I'm sure most of you already use these.Thanks for the chance to share and learn. Here are a few of mine...
Bucktail Streamer:

"Dragon's Beard"-I have missed more fish that caught on the next two-flies because I tied them on a wide-gape bass hook. If you mimic these patterns; I would use a shorter gape hook. However; I particularly enjoy using the offset bass hooks. The bend at the front of the hook offers a great center of gravity location for the eyes. This is a big help when casting these heavier streamers.

Here are a couple that are always in my box. Photos are not from recent ties, but from my archives. Both of these are solid producers on the tailwaters for trout and smallies.

Thanks for posting this Travis! Love the theme as well. If I can unearth some of my tying equipment or at least some already tied flies, I will try to post some tomorrow although it may be later this week. Streamer fishing is about as good as it gets when you see that monster bearing down on the fly with mouth open wide...

Unfortunately I still have not unpacked my tying equipment but I'm sure there are plenty of great tiers out there who have some awesome streamer patterns. Show us what you have!!! Even if you pull something out of a box it is cool to see different patterns and get different ideas...

Starting next week I hope to get going again with a new pattern or theme each week...

This has been my favored streamer for the past couple of years. I picked up a simular fly in Michagan and started tieing my own version with pecock hearl for the body. I catch small mouth, white bass and large mouth. It also produced a large bow behind of all places the Walland fired department this spring. And finaly after a lot of problems I have been able to post a photo.
