New dog name

Dogs usually do best with two syllable names. I agree that you may want to have him around for a couple days before you try out names with him

My suggestion is Hobble (as in Doghobble Branch), not to cast aspersions upon his agility, of course. I believe the vine is so named from bear and possibly other game running into it to escape hunter’s dogs.

On second thought, I like Smokey or Smoky suggested by Corbo and Silvercreek respectively. Of the the two, I suggest Smoky, so that when you call him, the famous bear and bluetick won't come to you instead.

or Thunder(head).

As long as your wife isn't in the room when you say it, you'll be fine. If your wife (girlfriend, sister, mother, is; however, anywhere within earshot, I'll deny ever seeing this thread...

Back on topic, our first dog was named Bud after Bud Ogle's place up at the beginning of the Motor Nature Trail. Bud was a beagle and it seemed fitting.
