While I have yet to drift an OPAL tinsel fly past any fish with spots; this is pretty sexy stuff. Tying under a light it is totally crazy how light reflects and changes color from clear to green to a sorta red hue.... it also seems to pick up color from surrounding material.
My guess is that as it moves in the water it makes the fly appear to have movement by virtue of the constantly changing color. I'm liking my nymphs but want to tie up some EH caddis with opal body and also a few parachutes. It may also find it's way on some CDC emergers and I will also try it on a few Klink hooks where the "lower" body will get the opal which is the part that "dangles" under the film. Not expecting miracles but I'll let you all know how this stuff works.... or maybe not. LOL |

I got some of this stuff the other day and used it today on some Ray Charles. Striking stuff, will have to see how it fishes.
