Default little river report 7/6/13

11 people were rescued from the Little River today. Area tubing companies have voluntarily shut down.

I just looked up Knoxville's average ANNUAL rainfall, and it is 47.86 inches. We might hit that by next weekend.

I know Byron has tried to put a positive spin on all this rain, but it has gotten to the point that it sucks. Big time.

Unless your a kayaker

Mac came into town this weekend. Colby, Mac, and I ended up hiking from Newfound Gap to Leconte and down Alum Cave.

Plan A - Raven Fork
Plan B - Greenbrier
Plan C - Small Stream
Plan D - Lower Abrams float
Plan E - Hike to Leconte

Lately Plan A & B haven't been enough.

Somehow Tourists and Common Sense can never seem to meet

Little's at 4 feet moving a solid 6 to 8 miles an hour and chocolate milk brown, but hey that must just mean that all the rock are covered, right?

Or natural selection should be allowed to run its course

Heavy rain is predicted for this coming Thursday and Friday. Mike Witcher has been wrong before, but I say its time we impeach Mother Nature.

Yes, the rain does suck, and it's not just east TN, we've been pounded in VA all year. The last few years were drought, low water, folks having to drill new wells, etc. Seems like one extreme to the next, but one thing is certain, we can't do anything about it, just deal with it and fuss about it and try to be ready when the waters pass by that "sweet" spot!
I'll be in Cherokee next week for 8 days and I hope to get a couple of fishable days out of that. Like the old man once said, "they didn't bite yesterday, they're not biting today, but when they do bite, I'll be here"!
