Default Sept. 27 - 29 in GSMNP

Given the current state of affairs in the National Parks, this may sound like braggin' but it was just "dumb luck" that we were able to get to the GSMNP this past weekend before the Park went "dark." Water levels were great, but the clear, sunny skies on Friday and Saturday added to the challenge. Not great numbers, but with a few hours each day, brought about 9 rainbows to hand with several LDRs (long-distance release) because of less than adequate hook-set. Missed quite a few as I once again got familiar with the speed of GSMNP trout.

All but 1 were caught on BHPN dropper below an orange or yellow stimulator. Most were cauaght in the vicinity of the lower and upper underwater bridges below the Institute, and a few near the third pull off just above Metcalf picnic area (also caught a couple "suckers" above Metcalf). The 'bows were in the 6-7 inch range, with the best around 9-10 inches.

As a wit once said, "I'd rather be in the mountains thinking about God, than in church thinking about the mountains." There are few places on earth that inspire a sense of the "spiritual" that are not in the wild.
