Default north river 12/28/13

Fly fishing report on the north river and the tellico from 12/28/2013. Fishing was very slow (dead) to be precise. The temp for the day never rose above41 degrees but was projected to be 56. water was up and flowing very well but the water temp stayed at 42 degrees all day. swinging streamer patterns, double nymph rigs weighted heavily and single nymph rigs were used but no luck. Shannon Mccurley and myself fished up to 3:00 pm cst and finally threw in the towel. In just a few weeks with a litttle warming and the bite will be very different. Even though the bite was off a great day outdoors always gives us the chance to practice techniques and enjoy Gods creations. So get out and enjoy.

We spent the day on the 28th working the Tellico. We found 12 or so common fish, all in the deep, slow seams next to the fast runs. Used double tungsten nymphs fished about 6 foot deep.

Don't think so Fred, but I could have. We fished mostly between Baby Falls and the mouth of North River. Fishing out of a dark blue Jeep Cherokee.

I've been wanting to make a trip down to tellico and north rivers. I haven't been since early December. Judging by this I'm assuming it's slow. These ridiculously cold temps won't help either. How's the DH been fishing on tellico?

Saw an article about Bald River Falls freezing earlier this week. That's cold!
