Default townsend 5/10

I had planned on fishing the Holston today but due to a late start adjusted my plans and headed to Townsend. I only fish the stocked waters once or twice a year, and every time I fish it I wonder why I don't fish it more often. By now the fish are spread out a d very much in places wild fish would be in the park. So I got in the water and just started walking and fishing. I never use dries when fishing in town and today was no different. I went with the tried and true princes and pheasant tails which always seem to produce. I only fished for 2 1/2 hours and LA died about a dozen fish most of which came from seems along very fast water. I caught no huge fish, the largest being 14 inches, but it was nice to catch fish that definitely average much bigger than your typical park fish. Close to dark the sulphers and sallues started hatching and laying eggs...and I was actually thinking the fish might start rising...then the downpour of rain came and put the snafu on those hopes...all in all a very relaxing enjoyable couple hours on the water. If you don't have much time, or must want to try something different I suggest trying in town, I think you'll enjoy it...

Thanks for sharing and for the report! Every year I tell myself I'll fish Townsend a little more but it rarely ends up happening. I've seen some really nice fish in town but it's hard to stop and fish when the Park is so close. I might have to give it a shot though.
