Default West Virginia

I get to make a trip to see an old buddy of mine at the end of September. He sys that he is going to take me fishing on the Piney Creek near Beckley West Virginia. Does any one have any helpful info on this creek. I think he said that we'd have to use spinning rods instead of fly rods. i've got an ultralight spinning rod but i don't have any lures to use with it. What do you use to catch trout with if you're using a spinning rod? :-?

Wooly bugger with a Colorado Spinner rig in front. Fished downstream from a fellow tearin' them up on this setup on a NC stream.

The folks on the board at WVAngler.com were very helpful.

I know that I'm probably going to embarrass myself with this question but I'm not a bass fisherman so what in the world is a colorado spinner? I know what a wollybugger is

I'll check out the website, thanks for the help.

A colorado spinner has a wider rounder blade almost circular. It uses a swivel in front of and behind with split rings to hold blade and a hook or fly. It is EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE for trout and smallmouth with just a "naked" hook on the end. I used to use them during my Ultra light spinning days. Can be used also with a fly rod if very careful.

Russ - KyTroutBum nailed it. Simple, almost round spinner blade. I have never used one but fished below a fellow on a DH stream that seemed to have trout fighting over it. He had it rigged in front of a small WB.
