Default watauga

I am thinking about fishing the watauga this weekend (12/30/06). I have never fished there before. I'll be wading. Is this a good river to fish in the winter? Any suggestions of what area to fish, or not fish?

Watauga is a good choice for winter fishing. I always seem to catch good fish during Jan. and Feb. I posted a pict. of one on the pict board from last Jan. The trophy section below Smalling Bridge is easy access and you could spend all day there and not get bored. *Go to www.riverridgecampground.net for directions. I also fish in town at the city park and upstream towards Stony Creek. Saturdays can be crowded just like most all tailwaters this time of year so get there early! Don't forget to stop at "PALS" for lunch in Elizabethton. Great chili-cheese hotdogs!

Yes, it is fishing pretty good right now. Lots of wading spots.Hunter Bridge is a pretty good spot,Siam bridge, and Riverridge campground is in the Quality section. Have fun, be safe. Check the generation before you go.

Ridgewood is outstanding, also I would suggest that Firehouse Restaurant (name?) in Johnson City. It is not far from Riverridge and WELL worth the money.
