Default West Prong of Little Pigeon River

I was just wondering if any has spent much time fishing the West Prong of Little Pigeon River near the trailhead to the Chimney's? If so, how is it? I've heard rumors that the fishing is pretty good near the trail head....but I have never fished there b/c I usually stay closer to the Townsend side of the park. I hate fighting the traffic of Pigeon Forge (thats the route I usually take to get to the Chimney's).

I fished there a couple of times. *I had pretty good luck there...catching bows and brookies. *Just dont expect anything big. *If you're up for hike, you can walk about a mile and a half up the trail and check out Road Prong. *Pretty decent Brookie fishing...you can start fishing where the trail crosses the stream and work your way up. *There are some barriers, though, that will force you back onto the trail in several spots. *I fished there twice last fall and didn't see anyone at all.

Of course, those were the barriers I was speaking of. I'm not gonna waste any more of my time up there.

Yep, the fishing is no good up there...in addition to bears, mountain lions and the rabid tourists already mentioned, I would like to warn you against all the snakes that live up there as well...poisonous ones...

Went up there last fall, I got run off by a large Yeti. He was big, hairy and had a copperhead snake in each hand. Avoid that area at all cost. your life my be at risk.

Know the area, never caught anything. Was bitten by a dog and someone throw a rock at me. There are better places if trout, and not trouble, are what your after.
