Default Mid-April Caddis Hatch

Hello everyone,

I picked up the little orange hatch chart written by Lowe a few weeks ago and have a question. I'm planning on a trip for mid April (I'm actually at a conference in Gatlinburg, but I'll find one day for fishing) and the hatch chart mentions a significant black caddis hatch around mid-April.

Does anyone know how prevalent and/or routine this hatch is? What color combinations for the body/wings/hackle should I use? Is the black caddis best represented by an Elk/Deer hair or x-caddis?

I'm beginning to tie my own flies and wanted to know how best to prepare.

Thanks in advance for your help!
