Smile Cosby Creek 3-9-07

Spring is almost here!!. I was able to get away from some inspection work I am doing in Cosby and fish on my lunch break. I started at indian camp creek and fished up to caney creek rd. When I startes I saw a guy fishing with bait and he said that they stocked the creek yesterday. I used a gold ribbed hare's ear on the advice of Hugh and it worked like a charm(Thanks Hugh). I caught alot of small stockers and one nice size fish. It was caught with a dog barking in my ear. What a great creek to fish. I will be up there the rest of the year and can't wait to fish some new sections. Does any one know if there are Brooks in the section inside the park?

Patrick

Yes there are...according to the book I have, anyway. I fished it a few weeks ago; it is a very small stream in the park, the water was cold, and I couldn't even spook a trout. However, it is a very pretty stream - mostly plunge pools by that stage, and it certainly looks like brook trout territory. I would like to give it another shot, maybe next month, when the fishing should be much better.

Default Cosby Creek

Patrick, that first fish looks like it might go into the low teens. Very nice fish! I'm glad that you had a good day and I hope that you get to fish even more of the creek later in the season. It has been my opinion that this stream is one of the unsung goldmines that we have available to us both inside and outside the Park. Try to fish some of the water even farther downstream if you can, on your next visit. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks for sharing.
