Default New to Board

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I see a few names from other boards I visit. I grew up in Haywood Co fishing the eastern part of the park. My grandfather, father, and uncles were all fly fishermen. I don't fish the TN side of the park as much as I use to, but I still get over that way 4 or 5 times a year. Work and family have taken most of my time the last few years, but the kids are all but grown, and my working days are gettting easier all the time. Plus the tailwater bug has bitten me good, and the true mountain fishing has taken a back seat to it. This looks like a nice resource and I look forward to reading all of your post.

Flyman -- welcome aboard, Steve! Glad you signed on, and I really look forward to seeing some posts of your fly patterns! I read on another board that CalebB gives a lot of the credit for his flytying awards to you! How 'bout postin' some pics of your soft hackles?

Folks, say hello to an excellent flytier from N.C. Welcome Steve, and tell us more about this new addiction to tailwaters that has overcome you. Good to see you on this board and show us lots of pictures real soon.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Always nice to hear from friends.

Phil-Caleb has been able to obtain the level of expertiece he has thru hard work. I've only given him a nudge in the right direction a time or two. He has probably been helped more in the area of tying contest flies by Bob Schreimer (Plumbob) than anyone. Bob is world class, he's a multiple winner of the Norway-Mustad contest and many others. I may have to come over that way soon and take you up on that offer of a fishing lesson on the Clinch.

Hugh-There is just something about sight fishing to large difficult fish with small flies and fine tippets. It's hard to explain, beacuse I do dearly love the mountain streams I've fished all my life. I just hope the salwater bug will leave me alone, that is looking more and more interesting all the time as well.
