Default Do any of you use "mono eyes" ?

By that I mean burning the ends of a short peice of monofiliment fishing line making "eyes" on each end and tying it to the front of a nymph or streamer.

I use a bit of old 12 lb. test mono as eyes for damselfly nymphs. I burn the ends until its about the size I need and wrap them on the hook.

I too use a 12 lb test to make the eye and antennae on one of the crayfish patterns I tie. It took practice, including the overburns and burnt fingers to use it.

Aaron,
For larger nymphs like stoneflies and damsel flies try adding a couple of small dark colored glass beads to the mono. Burn the first eye and slip two dark colored glass beads onto the mono. Now trim the mono and burn the other side. When you tie them on just make a couple of figure 8 wraps to keep the glass beads seperated.
