Well...back to the original topic...tried again for a few minutes in the lake this evening. No hits, but I did see a good sized gar just before I started - he would have been fun on the fly, but I doubt it was feeding - it was surfacing.

Well, these are just "test drives"...I really need to get out in the boat - and I also need to time it when the water is moving. If the tide is slack, you won't get anything. I did talk to a fellow from my church, who is building a camp down in Shell Beach (St Bernard Parish); the boat slip is already there. He said 4 of them went out on Monday, and struggled to put 30 fish in the ice chest; it's been very windy lately - tonight was the first time in a while it went calm, after the rains.
