Backcountry trip weekend of September 1

Im thinkin about heading down for the weekend, maybe tomorrow...any recommendations on good fishing in higher elevation, away from the crowds if possible?

Wish I could go, life with a wife and son though says I don't get too many weekend trips away. What is the starting elevation if the stream is at 4,000 feet. Of course I am trying to figure out which stream you're talking about!

Try one of these maybe up Hazel later in the fall, maybe early November (not the first that is my son's birhday) Maybe the weekend of the 10th? Might be some lake run browns in the stream then. Just a thought.

My fishing partner and I might be interested if you are going to go a week or two after Labor Day weekend. If you are set on going Labor Day weekend, I may still be able to swing it.

It looks like it will be labor day weekend, as of right now at least. I think that swipper is going to try and go, as well as scflyfisher.

Hey don't ever put off something you can get to today, especially not fishing! And 3 or 4 people is plenty. Really 2 is plenty

I'm open to that possibility, too...by then, I'll have some more leave built up. Our payroll folks came to me last week and informed me that I had reached a '0' balance of vacation hours - a testament to how much I've fished in the Smokies this year. By November, I'll have some time built up, and my oldest will be done with soccer - I was hoping to get up there at least once this fall anyway.

I'm actually not sure that I can make it Labor Day weekend. My wife has Labor Day off, and I don't think I can abandon her on a holiday weekend. About the only chance I would have is if it was just a one nighter, then maybe I could try to swing it. However, I'm not sure this is the type of trip that you only want to do one night. This seems like the type of thing best enjoyed for multiple nights. If you get several people for that weekend, don't worry about me. I really want to do it, but the holiday is just not the best time for me. All this being said, I really do want to be a part of one of these trips this year before it gets cold. Keep me posted.
