Cades Cove Campgroun 4/11?

Can you reserve a spot in the Cades Cove campground in April (it looks like no reservations until May)? If reservations aren't taken, is there any danger of driving 5 hours from Alabama in April and not securing a campsite?

reservations do not begin until may....however, other campgrounds will be open in april, but cades should be ok.
