Default Bryson City Water Levels

Hello,

Thinking about taking a weekend trip to the Deep Creek Campground this weekend to do some fishing on Deep Creek, and maybe Noland or Forney as well. I was curious about water levels in that area as I have primarily fished the TN side of the Park this year except for two trips to Straight Fork in July. I don't expect levels to be high since there has been little to know rain over the last 2 weeks.

Appreciate any feeback,

Neal

Neal, don't know for sure, some spotty showers have gone that way the last couple of nights. According to Ian Rutter's website, when they helped with sampling on Bunches creek last week they referred to it being very low. Of course Bunches is pretty small anyways.

Talking Working

Hans,

I hope your not surfing the net while your at work, LOL. I would never do such a thing. Actually, I took the day off today. Gotta do some errands and get packed to leave for Bryson early in the morning. Let me know if you wanna pair up for some fishing.

Default Caught in the act

You got me, need to quit surfing, anyway, I'm done with the mountains for a while. I have to take care of some house related projects and then I'm haveing my parents coming in on the 28th. I probably will Fish the Clinch this weekend and possibly next. Then I'm not able to fish until Sept 13th. I'm going on a trip up northeast in October as well as one night at Elkmont early October. Until then good luck.

Thanks for the input Redfish. I am going to give it a whirl. I'll give a report when I return.

Neal -I ran the Deep Creek trail from the campground this morning... haven't fished it since May. We've had zero rain in almost 3 weeks. All the showers went around Bryson City. Heard on the Asheville TV station at noon that the rain deficit is now equal to what it was this time last year.

All that said, the water didn't look that bad. Go at least up above the tuber put-in at Indian Creek to start. Further up the stream might even be better. Low water means very clear water too. Bring with you your absolute best stealth tactics and you should be able to catch some fish.

Thanks for the local input Tom. I plan on hiking at least a couple miles upstream to get away from the crowds and get into a little cooler water as well. I haven't fished Deep Creek much in the past, but I would like to get into more wild brown fishing, so I figure it's a great place to give it a try.
