Flyman, Thanks for the tip on the Ray Charles pattern. Any thoughts on an orange ostrich herl? Also how do you fish the Ray charles? Monk

Cast, let it sink, hold on ...

It was really named the "Ray Charles" because "even a blind man can catch trout with it".

I add split above the fly to sink it and hold it down. Faster water, more shot. Slower water, less shot. The only real work you have to do is figure out where in the water column the fish are feeding. You can use your strike indicator to change your depth.

Okay, it may be politically incorrect, but this made me literally laugh out loud. And, I really needed to do that, so thanks!
