Just a heads up for you guys, It is illegal to fish at night in NC trout waters. I have fished here my entire life and that has always been the rule. The only place you are allowed to fish after dark is the Nantahala river. Most of the stream regulation signs say fishing is allowed from one half hour before sun rise to one half hour after sun down.

I wouldn't want to be walking around on that stream at night anyways. The place has so many snakes that you see during the day, can't imagine how many are out at night! last time I was there a few years ago, a couple was carrying out their lab that was bitten by a copperhead.

Yeah, I am with WNCFLY, I think the Nantahala is the only place where you can fish at night.

You are right about the copperheads. I have seen more in one day on the Nantahala than any other trout stream. Have not been back since then.
