Default prediction of high river

I finally made it to Little River last April for the first expedition of fly fishing on it. And yes I got one (rainbow). It was like my first fish ever and felt like a great accomplishment although I've bass fished in Florida all my life. Unfortunately, my wife and I had to return due to daughter getting in a car accident. I was just getting warmed up. She is better now. Going to try to return this April again. A little worried about the high water talk. I practice in a near by wading river (blue gills). Does Little River drain off and go lower for wading in the Spring about that time in April? I enjoyed the ability to wade across the entire river back then. Am I looking at a higher river prediction or is it just wait and see due to the unpredictable weather? It don't snow here or rain much in winter. Don't know your typical seasonal water levels except that was great then. Gotta make plans.

Well, it all depends on how much rain we get...If the rain is persistent and heavy, throughout the Winter/Spring it may still be high come April. With that being said, the Little River drops like a rock in the Summer (as early as May) and then we're beggin' for more rain...It still looks like the Carolinas will be in line for a few more Gulf systems that bring more flooding... The map below just shows how much rain TN recieves annually....hope this helps...

Default april rain brings..big fish?

I wouldn't worry too much about the water levels being non fishable by april. I fished last weekend, just 4 days after that 4 inch day of rain, and although a little high, the rivers were definitely fishable. usually the little river and the little pigeon drop back to normal quickly after high water.

If I were you I would just worry about what flies to bring... Everything seems to hatch on any giver day in April. Although you can always just stock up on your parachute adams, and be ready for everything..
