Default Abrams - 1/23

Went to Cades Coves this morning for a quick scout of the Spring Creek portion of Abrams. When I got there, the air temp was 29 and the water temp at the head of the creek was 46. Wet a BWO for a bit but saw no sign of fish. So I went on down to the Abrams Creek Trailhead and went up the creek from there. The water temp was 46.8 - wasn't expecting that. Threw in a #16 Quasimoto nymph and ended up the with this guy:

Around 9-10". Right after I caught him, I headed home. Why ruin a perfectly good morning?

Good catch. I hope you are going to put that in the fish of the month category. Thanks for sharing and helping feed the cabin fever.

Great looking fish helps cure cabin fever. What is the pattern for Quasimoto Nymph? I've never seen one. Again a great looking fish thanks for sharing.

The pattern I use for the nymph is to drive to Townsend and buy it at LRO. It's actually something like a BHPT with a copper head and a bent hook shaft. Has a little green flare to it.

Flyred, I've already posted for the fish of the month or I would stick this one in. Much nicer specimen but I wasn't sure on January 3 what else I might be catching for the month - this was the first time out since then after some bitter cold weather here.

Thanks for the reply. I'm about a five hour ride to get to LRO. I hope to take a weekend and get there for some of the tying classes. I really enjoy reading the forum and seeing the pictures.

Sorry I did not know that you had already made that entry, but darn nice fish and a heck of away to spend a winter afternoon.

Default Cabin Fever x3

Charlie, Nice fish...I think you should edit your Jan 3rd post and insert that guy, as well...its too nice of a fish, in too hostile of conditions not to gloat a bit...the rest of us can only dream about fishing today...

Charlie,

Great fish. I'm getting that itchy feeling to get down there to fish. The middle of March can't get here quick enough.
