Default Cataloochee

Hello all, I'm headed for Cataloochee later in the week for a few days fishing. Anyone know how the streams in the valley are? We usually camp there in the Fall, not much Spring experience at Cataloochee so any help is appreciated. W

I would say that you may actually find some good pocket water there this time of year with all of the rain. The creek may be moving fast, so expect that when selecting flies to tie.

Best bet is to hit the Rough Fork Trail above vehicle access for the deep pockets - gauge the mountain profile for steeper drop of the creek to find them...

If you want some remote fishing and do not mind the hike; hit the short stretch in Pisgah Game Lands. Should be a trail to follow off of White Road...?

And should you follow MadisonBoats advice check out the cabin down by where the creek enters Waterville lake. Then take the trail upstream through the big rocks into the land that time forgot.Keep an eye out for sleestacks.
