The straight Fork Road actually gets quite a bit of traffic, most of it coming down the one-way (down to Round Bottom) road from Heintooga Overlook. There are also a fair number of locals up and down the road each day. I personally wouldn't worry about leaving a vehicle here any more than at dozens of other spots in the Park. One note of caution--once you reach Enloe Creek your only trail access to Raven Fork is where you cross the stream to the designated campsite. If you plan to fish Rave Fork or make your way to Three Forks (one of the most beautiful places in the Park) you will be bushwhacking. It's rough, rugged country, the most remote on the N. C. side of the Park. Jim Casada

Jim is right just be prepared for some of the most rugged areas in the park. Don't go alone and make sure and take your time and be careful, you would hate to break an ankle back there. (By the way, looking forward to your book!)
As far as the car is concerned i wouldn't worry about it. Now i have only left it there for a few days, not a week, but i wouldn't be worried about it at all. Enjoy yourself and take plenty of pics to share with us. Oh yeah, don't forget your beetles.

I've parked over there and Round Bottoms many times over the years and never had any problem.

I spent a couple nights there in April. Trailhead is 2.5 miles past the fishery. The parking area is on your left and will be the first you see on your way in. Don't leave anything valuable in the car, leave it and forget about it. It should be fine.
The hike in takes you up over the hill, but isn't that bad if you're in moderate condition. I don't recommend it, but I did the hike with Chacos and had no problems. Make a reservation if you camp at foty-sevn. It's a small but nice spot right on the stream. I imagine it's a bit cramped if full. FYI - the rocks near the site are loaded with mice that will come out when it gets dark. Again, a very rugged area. The fishing is good but takes a LOT of work. Bushwacking and traversing the stream took way more out of me than the hike in/out. Be safe and follow up with us when you get back.
