Default Straight Fork

For anyone who makes their way over there: If you get in at the old pump station hole( I assume), upstream a couple hundred yards is a mean little hornets nest right square in the middle of the creek on an overhanging limb. Be on the lookout, they are pissy.

Michael--I noticed that nest last w, and I've seen several others of loate. Hornets love to build over water in the Smokies, and by this time of year they've had enough time to get the nests to fairly large siz For some reason the nests I've noticed this year seem a bit lower than usual. My Grandfather used to say that hornets "knew" when they could get by with low nests without risk of loods getting them. I don't know, but any angler who pays careful attention after leaf fall will realize just how many nests are built over streams. It's an occupational hazard, but one which can pretty much be avoided by being watchful. Jim Casada
