There are a few things you need to know, first of all many or most all companies set the prices for their gear, so a pair of let say Simms boots are gonna cost the same at LRO as at a big box store (bass pro, cabelas etc) secondly when you order that rod reel line and backing leaders and tippet are you gonna be able to assemble them all yourself? Flyfishing is a lot like anything else, it's simple when you are shown how to do things, but can be quite confusing and difficult when you don't know what you are doing. Most would agree that we chase fins with feathers because it is harder, anyone can drown bait, so if it is already the most difficult way to pursue fish it's probably a good idea to enlist the knowledge of a local shop, you learn more & quicker which makes it more fun and the prices are the same.
