Why the water is still cold.

I was wondering how much snow was left up high and how long it would be until the water warms up, but when I went to Leconte with a group of guys Monday I realized it may be a bit longer. It snowed 6 inches in the hour we were up there. Here are a couple pics of what was there as of Monday. If you step off the hard packed part of the trail you sink up over knee deep.

Wow! Beautiful! That's a good reminder of how rough conditions can get in the spring in the Smokies. A lot of people don't allow enough respect for the conditions up there and get in trouble.
