Just called Sugarlands and the ranger told me that "a few" parking spaces will be pointed out for day use by visiting the ranger station at the campground. Should you be able to get a parking spot, information will be given for access to the areas above the campground.

Grannyknot and I took advantage of those "few parking spots" the other day. The hike from the parking area to the trail head is like a hundred miles or something and is covered with yellow jackets.

I'd stay away.

Don't need any hundred mile hikes battling yellow jackets and such. Was going to meet my brother and introduce him to some smokies fishing, I guess we will wait.
