Default Road Prong 7-17-10

So I could not wait to try out the Helios rod that my fantastic, wonderful, beautiful wife got me for our Ten year anniversary. (Thanks Paula for the assist) I have been wanting to hike in a bit to fish, so I went to Road Prong with my buddy Tim. We hiked to the fourth bridge and started fishing at about 7 A.M.

We both started with a green weenie and started catching fish quickly. It was perfect temperature and was over cast for most of the day. The small pockets of water paid off more that not with the bigger pools not being as willing as I thought they might. Behind rocks tended to be a good place to throw a fly as well. We caught lots of specs of varying size with a couple pushing 9 inches.

After we climbed the first water hazard or water fall, I switched to a yellow stimulator and would have caught some fish but I really couldn't see it very well due to low light so I switched back to the good old green weenie and started catching fish again. We finally saw the 5th bridge and the last water hazard. To the amazement of both of us, we didn't fall to our deaths and got out at the bridge. Hiking back, we saw the little trail that we could have taken to avoid the "widow maker" that we had just climbed.

We stopped on the way out at the third bridge and fished a short time and caught a few more. If you are one of the 4 people that were standing on the bridge taking pictures when I took the plunge, please sell me the negatives. We got back to the trail head a little after 1:00 P.M. All in all, we brought about 40 specs to hand.

nice, my wife got me a LA II reel yesterday. I did 3rd to 4th bridge today on road prong. I couldn't keep them off my line with a yellow parachute and a tellico bh. Took home a 9in rainbow that I caught screwing around at the 1st bridge and a 9in brookie I caught right before the 4th bridge. Fried them up and they were delicious.

Really thinking about getting a tip flex 9' helios. Threw one the other day and it worked marvelous.

WHO DAT

up feeding levi 4am cardfly

was looking at the 8'6" 5wt. as a goto rod for every occasion. just had 7 yr ann. wife said she get me something i pick it out.

you can come down and we will catch some ky brookies sept. 4, have no idea about ky and football this year maybe the only game we win LOL and i have DVR

snakes may have cooled down by then

my wife thinks i'm crazy, wading in creeks, bending down and squating all the time to cast, hiking an hr. to catch a 5" fish. my brothernlaw sells bait wholesale all over the state. "why can't you just sit on the bank and fish like everybody else?"

I think DVRing the game and fishing on September 4th is an outstanding idea.

That Helios is a much better rod than I am a fisherman.
