How big is the dog....I know that the Sleep Inn in Pigeon Forge will allow dogs so there may be one in Gatlinburg as well

Just to give you a "heads up", your pup will probably not be able to join you if you plan to hike or fish in the park. Dog Friendly areas are very limited in "Back country" type areas of the park.

that's why I bring the wife to babysit the dog.. :-) I'm over 60 and overweight so 'back country' isn't really an issue.

Bullwinkle--Two thoughts--You have a most understanding spouse. As for over 60 and overweight, I can identify, but you just have to adjust your definition of "back country." For me today it is two-three miles from the trailhead rather than twice that distance or more.

I have a 2009 vacation guide and here's the list:
Bunkhouse Inn 800-448-6377
Econo Lodge 800-348-7090
Family Inns 800-251-9752
Riverstone Lodge 800-854-7358
Scenic Motel 800-448-2294

Hope this helps.

Backcountry- staying in a motel with black and white TV.

thanks guys.. I think I got a line on a place.. the wife babysits the dog while I fish and I drop her off downtown Gatlinburg then I find a nice parking spot and the dog and I sit back and relax until we are called to pick her up.

Econolodge in Townsend allows pets. The up charge is $20 per night.

It's actually a pretty decent motel. My mom and dad had their cat there last week.

Hope this helps.

the wife uses him as excuse not to fish and I use him as an excuse not to walk all over Gatlinburg going through all the shops. the only 2 spots I care to visit are the Karmel Corn store and the Pancake Pantry. Jake, our 10yo GSP doesn't mind waiting in the car alone but why should I suffer? Jake has been out to Yellowstone twice, MI, MN, PA, WV & GSMNP multiple times. Oh forgot Key West
