Thanks RW. They were getting their groove on, and it was something to see. I try to go over every year in October for the rut, and they have yet to disappoint. This year I took my dad, who has never seen an elk, and he was like a kid in a candy store. We drove from front to back four times, and each time we would get out and stand by the truck and just watch and listen. When we left he asked what time I wanted to come back the next weekend.
I told him I will take him back in May to see if we can catch the turkey doing their thing too.It was truly a rewarding experience to see him having that much fun, and taking in the splendor of God's creation.

Good to see one without a collar, too. Born in the park, or are they taking them off of the tracking collars? ( I assume that's what they are?!) The bugling sound is haunting! We were there in October of 2009 I think and it was really cool to see such big animals so active - and so up-close and personal. ( Not "idiot" up-close and personal, you understand.
)
